NO FRACKING PIPELINES Teach-in & Hike October 11th

On October 11, communities across the world are coming together for a global protest to call for a ban on fracking, a dangerous method of drilling for natural gas that puts our air, water, climate and communities at risk.

While fracking hasn’t happened in New Jersey yet, we are already seeing a myriad of new fracking infrastructure popping up in our communities, including the proposed Pilgrim Pipeline. If built, the Pilgrim Pipeline would pump some of the world’s most combustible oil produced by fracking through sensitive watershed lands and dozens of municipalities in Bergen, Passaic, Morris, Essex and Union Counties. Sign up to join the Global Frackdown on Saturday, 10/11 as we build awareness about the dangers of fracking and it’s associated infrastructure like the Pilgrim Fracked Oil Pipeline!

The event will kick off with a teach in on fracking, climate justice and the proposed pilgrim pipeline. The teach in will be held in the grass field that borders the Ramapo Reservation parking lot, and will run from 11am-12:15PM. After the teach-in we’ll take a moderate hike to the site of the proposed Pilgrim pipeline. This will be an opportunity to connect with other concerned community members and enjoy the natural beauty of the park. Please be sure to bring your own re-usable water bottle, a snack and hiking boots as we’ll be hiking some moderate climbs and descends. The hike will conclude back at the parking lot around 2:30pm.
