Two important upcoming public forums

There are two important informational sessions upcoming on the Pilgrim Pipeline.  These are independently sponsored by public officials (not CAPP) to provide the public with information they need to evaluate the potential impact of the pipeline.  They are:

  • Wednesday, Feb. 18, 7 p.m. at the Montville Twp. Town Hall, 195 Changebridge Rd, Montville NJ.  US DOT Presentation on Pipeline Safety standards.Mayor Scott C. Gallopo and the Montville Township Committee have invited Ms. Karen Gentile, Community Assistance & Technical Services (CATS) Manager for the United States Department of Transportation, Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), to speak to the public on Wednesday, February 18, 2015at 7:00pm.  The location of Ms. Gentile’s presentation will be the Montville Township Town Hall located at 195 Changebridge Road, Montville, New Jersey.

    Ms. Gentile’s presentation is in response to questions raised by the public on pipelines and pipeline safety prompted by the proposed Pilgrim Pipeline Holdings, LLC project to construct a pipeline to carry refined petroleum products and crude oil across northern New Jersey, connecting Albany, New York and Linden, New Jersey.  So that the public better understands pipelines and pipeline safety in general terms, Ms. Gentile will highlight the following items during her presentation to the public:

    • Overview of Energy Pipelines
    • Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) Roles and Responsibilities
    • Pipeline Safety Regulations
    • State Involvement
    • Keeping Pipelines Safe
    • Pipeline Planning and Construction
    • Available Resources and Links
  • Wednesday, Feb. 25 at the Madison High School auditorium, 170 Ridgedale Ave., Madison NJ.  A public forum being co-hosted by Madison Mayor Bob Conley and Chatham Borough Mayor Bruce Harris as an informational session for residents to learn about the proposal. The speakers will be presenting facts about the proposed pipeline alignment and the regulatory process required to implement the proposal. Members of the New Jersey Legislature will be in attendance to discuss their efforts regarding the issue.
