Pilgrim wants the New York Thruway Authority to lead the environmental review for the Pilgrim Pipeline. The Thruway Authority, which would reap large fees if the pipeline is built, wants to lead the environmental review for the Pilgrim Pipeline.
The environment, however, does not want a highway agency doing an environmental review. The Department of Environmental Conservation is the common-sense agency to lead the review.
A decision has to be made by December 16. Now is the time to take action: make a simple, short phone call to Gov. Cuomo’s office (518-474-8390) with this brief message:
As a resident of New York, I demand that the NY DEC should be the lead agency to oversee the environmental review for the Pilgrim Pipeline proposal. The NY Thruway Authority would be an inappropriate choice to be the lead agency.
