Landowners along the proposed Pilgrim Pipeline route and concerned citizens can learn more about the project at workshop at the Library of the Chathams on December 8th. Lynda Farrell, Executive Director of the Pipeline Safety Coalition will be on hand to discuss what landowners need to know when dealing with Pilgrim Pipeline land agents. Topics will include what rights the property owner has and what rights the company have (or lack), how easement agreements should be discussed, and how survey permission can be denied and enforced. Ms. Farrell is a Pennsylvania resident with three pipelines on her property. She has dealt with companies for years and can help potentially impacted landowners along the Pilgrim route navigate this sometimes scary and overwhelming process.
“Even if a pipeline is not directly on your property, pipelines and their infrastructure affect us all; this is a community impact and we encourage communities to unite and help each other,” said Lynda Farrell, Executive Director, Pipeline Safety Coalition
Pilgrim Pipeline LLC is proposing to construct two new oil pipelines through New Jersey to carry volatile crude oil and refined petroleum products. Right now they are seeking permission to access private property to conduct studies needed to put their permit applications together.
“Knowing your rights and the pipeline review process is critical to ensure landowners make the best decision. This workshop is a great way for property owners and neighbors to learn more and gain the knowledge needed to help them stand firmly against the Pilgrim Pipeline,” said Kate Millsaps, Conservation Program Coordinator, NJ Sierra Club.
This event is open to anyone who wants to learn about pipelines and how they impact our communities.
“This is an opportunity to hear from the families who will be impacted first and worst by this dirty energy pipeline,” said Matt Smith, Regional Organizer, Food and Water Watch.
